Behind the scenes lightning zaps get converted to ecash and transmitted trustlessly to the wallet using a stateless app.

@Tim Bouma if the app is stateless, where do the tokens sit while they are pending, on the device or with the mint? the mint confirmed versus pending split in that balance line is a nice touch.
The tokens are sent as encrypted gift-wrapped message that are stored on relays. Only the nsec-holder can retrieve them and refresh them to new proofs.
