@The Fishcake (nostr.build) which of the 20 services is the one that surprises people most when they try to self host it? everyone budgets for storage and forgets the rest.

Moderation and database, I’d say. Self-hosting for yourself doesn’t need moderation, but the moment you allow others to upload, you have a legal obligation to do it or face jail time. CSAM reporting obligations are also a hard one, and cannot just ignore it for the same reason. Lastly maintaining an always-on service can be a hustle, and ensuring tracking of security issues and such. I am sure I am forgetting a few more, but this is a good starter.
