was thinkin about the word: self-possessed on my 7/11 run
self-assured
is there a difference?
mildly casually i dont think so
but maybe the case can be made, re: brando, to be possessed of one's own self in such a way that you cannot put it down, or refuse to, self must triumph
i dont know tho, i can only wonder as a major outsider, can only speculate
ive never even been in an improv troupe
but, and again, this was from my drive, i do know what playing is, and reciprocity is, im pretty sure all siblings do that grew up close enough in age, or close to cousins, what playing well together is, sharing, taking turns
as in, banter is implicitly a very 'yes and' thing, within bounds like tennis rallying, like with a friend on their porch sharing wine and straight riffing there is no way improv is that far away, i would guess it is just more extreme, being more willing with practice to be perceived as ridiculous fearlessly
why? i guess is my question then
what is a stage doing, what is the extremity doing? is it the pressure? the adrenaline becomes addictive? being watched? the stakes?
is it just a stakes thing
im not gonna not be disappointed if it is just a stakes thing,
which is fine, for everyone who enjoys that
but i'd like there to be something more
