#asknostr what's up with this?

Thanks for this information, I made it to set up my wallet and I did it in the Primal client for iOS. The only issue is that it asked for some personal details and I was not expecting that to happen as this should be a decentralized network. Privacy?

I’m new, I might not know how things work here 😬 I was just not expecting Primal to ask for my email address, location and date of birth when activating the wallet.
This is a primal specific thing. They let you set up your own wallet and link it using a lightning address, but they provide this feature as a default in order to help newcomers get started quickly. Those who wish to withhold the information asked will either find another solution or simply not set up a wallet at all, but this gets more people on board in general. Those who are more into privacy are more into putting in work. Fortunately, Primal gives you the option to choose, but other clients just force you to do extra work to set it up.

Understood. I think I will be fine, in the end I’m here for the freedom of speech not for anything illegal. I just wanted to keep myself as private as I can but this will not affect me in the long run I think. Thanks for the information 👍🏻
