I just learned about Tether Gold for the first time yesterday. Nice and convenient for acquiring and holding gold. But help me out here, Nostr friends, with the gaps in my understanding. 🤔 Wasn’t there that fun time when the QuadrigaCX Bitcoin exchange just disappeared and took everyone’s coins with it? Or that other time in 1971 when Nixon said that dollar tokens were no longer exchangeable for gold? So, even if you trusted Tether and their tech stack completely, some entity more powerful than Tether could just nope the gold out of there and into their own pockets.
