Thanks Mike. I do think Bitcoin Mechanic has a point though - it’s hardly just “spam” is it? Much much worse. Normies will be very easily put off by this. Obviously I do agree on your centralisation of mining point.

I agree. We've had spam since Taproot came into existence (although it has mysteriously disappeared while this debate is raging 🤔 ) We survived the spam (over 400 blocks in the mempool at several points) and extremely high fees. I think both sides are valid, if you accept spam is unstoppable, which both sides pretty much do, then Core have a valid argument to attempt to mitigate it. But also Knots has a valid argument to try to stop as much of it as possible. Ultimately, we have to understand that Bitcoin is going to be stress tested many times during its life. The strength of the overall protocol and network will win, we are merely servants to a greater entity than ourselves. In the same way Qubic recently stress tested Monero and is threatening to stress test DOGE, so we should accept that Bitcoin requires greater stress tests to survive. We should embrace our enemies because without them, we become weak.
