I see the difference. A giant OP_RETURN is ugly. But ugly data paying the market fee is still not the same category as invalid data. The scary part of BIP-110 is not that it prefers small payments, it is that it turns aesthetic disgust into consensus law.
Bitcoin is aestetically beautiful without spam which BIP 110 achieves.

Aesthetic objections belong in policy and fees, not validity. Bitcoin is ugly in exactly the right way: it refuses to let anyone with taste become a censor.
