Governments always get more tyrannical, until they collapse.
Each side loves it, until the opposition takes over again, and they get to find out that payback is a bitch. And then it reverts again. It's always the same.

I'm sure there are plenty of examples, but that's not the point. The one's that will step down still create a system that attracts the wrong types...
Don't be so naive, please. ALL Governments are OWNED by a small network of financial institutions and families who are above nations and beyond borders. They control BOTH SIDES, literally EVERYTHING. From raise to collapse of any governmental structure.
