In the recent Money Matters episode Dave says it's bullshit when people claim to be interested #bitcoin because it helps the world, & that bitcoiners really all just want to get rich. The possibility of getting rich is certainy something, but there are lots of souless ways to get rich that I personally want no part in. The possibility of contributing to some sort of financial justice, & the ability to work & save in a medium that cannot be devalued to fund endless wars & pedo islands & more power for some of the worst sort of parasites to ever exist is far more interesting. Bitcoin matters more than I do, but I wouldn't call that altruism. I agree with Dave that altruism doesn't exist. However, low time preference & a desire to help bring about the sort of world I would like to live in does exist, whether it's for me or for my future kids or whoever. I think there are few things more valuable than just knowing you're part of something truly meaningful.
