Being a ballerina is beautiful, but unstable. It is a profession where competition is fierce, the career is short, and the body is the main tool, which is constantly at risk of “breaking down.” Even in the best theaters, there are few places, salaries are not fabulous, and a career can end due to a single injury or age. Ballerinas have talent, strength, and discipline, but no guarantee of employment. Their work is like living on the tip of pointe shoes: beautiful, but painful and unstable.
