Literally goldeneye walked as a FPS so that CoD, Halo, and everything we've had since could run.
So many middle/high school arguments were settled with this game. Goldeneye, super smash bros, or star fox 64. Good times.

The first console fps to really take off. Before Halo, there was Goldeneye. I remember the local arcade having this setup on the floor for multiplayer.

I hadn't played it myself, though (I'm a Zoomer who had played a few N64 games like WWF No Mercy, SM64, MK64 and even Smash 64). Granted, I'm into old consoles like the PS2, Wii and even PS3.

Good buddy of mine was one of the original speed runners back at the turn of the century. I remember watching him grind for hours looking at the floor the whole time. I’ll admit, I didn’t get it and thought it was a strange way to enjoy Goldeneye. Turns out he was helping forge new territory
