Agreed, it's also good for preventing accidentally bricking the phone, since they have experience doing it. That said, I'm not trying to play devil's advocate but if you use something like Tracfone (no KYC and pay-as-you-go, two things I refuse to give up), I'm pretty sure getting a fully degoogled phone isn't viable. I could be wrong but from what I read, it doesn't seem possible. The next best option is to download Shizuku and use it to run Canta, which lets you strip out a lot more of the spyware and bloat than normal.

Not sure what it is you're looking to do? A de-Googled phone running #GrapheneOS essentially takes you out of Google's data collection. The tricky part is to maintain confidentiality of your IMSI and IMEI...not sure how those are managed with a Tracfone, but both are mandatory, so both are present even with a Tracfone. If you get a SIM from a Tracfone, would you be able to either transfer that SIM to your Graphene phone? Or if offered by Tracfone, could you obtain a virtual SIM?
Tracfone seems to only sell phones, not SIMs. I haven't tried transferring my existing SIM card but most new phones have eSIM only nowz do they not?
