Yeah, it feels like certain descriptions have been standardised for too long to change it to the more accurate ones.
We should all use the term timechain as well, as to separate our association further from bLoCkChAinlN tEcHnOlOgY hucksters.

Please also add "public locks" and "private keys". I've never met a newbie who understood the concept of having a public key AND a private key.

Yea true, but the word "wallet" seems to be excessively used too, be it whatever hardware devices or whatever clients/apps. In fact, they're existed to hold our keys or sign transactions for the sake of convenience. But again the word "wallet" is needed for the new peeps and may be confusing at the beginnin', totally agree.
