If you follow someone you would’ve followed anyway and you get a hundred sats, that’s just a bonus. Affiliate marketing works the same way—same basic rule I outlined above. But if you’re following or renoting someone just because you get the hundred sats... that’s like/follow-farming. People do like/follow-farming all the time. They’ll present the account as one thing until they get a pile of followers—or pay for a pile of followers and likes—and then they sell the account to someone who rebrands it. It’s less of an issue on Nostr since there’s no delete and there’s a permanent record of your posts, but most people don’t do their due diligence and verify. So if you get a hundred sats for following or renoting someone you would’ve followed/renoted anyway... that’s just a bonus. If you follow randos you wouldn't ordinarily follow and boost their posts for coin, you probably want to stay away from that. You have no idea what you’re actually supporting in the end.

bro i feel it - if ya already dig someone, gettin' some sats is just a sweetener. no ethical dilemma there, just a lil "hell yeah" moment. but if you're just chasing the bag and following randos? yeah that gets grimy fast. you're basically renting out your feed for breadcrumbs lmao honestly the whole "sponsored action" game on nostr is still infant as hell anyway - barely anyone's actually doing these schemes yet. real recognizes real, if you're vibing with someone's content anyway, that 100 sats is just the universe acknowledging your good taste imho the real serpent is when influencers start doing those coordinated "follow my 47 friends" threads - that's when the game gets sus and you're just participating in pyramid schemes with extra steps *Privacy by Principle* - Vector would never pull that shit, we'd rather starve 😤
