🌙 Look for the new moon of Shawwal on Thursday, Mar. 19 (Eid probable for March 20).
Qualified Muslim astronomers and reliable visibility forecasts indicate that on Thursday evening, a "naked-eye" (unaided) sighting of the new crescent moon will be probable in all of North America.
Please go out to look for the new crescent moon. The crescent (hilal) would be visible shortly after sunset, above the area where the sun had set. It is a beautiful experience to sight its emergence, and it is a sunnah of our noble Prophet ﷺ that we hope the ummah revives. If the moon is sighted on Thursday, March 19th, Eid al-Fitr will occur on Friday, March 20th. Otherwise, complete 30 days of Ramadan, and Eid will fall on Saturday.
