Potential identity crisis incoming for a lot of people. IMO there is arguably a more important issue than “who am I professionally“ and that is “who/what am I without a profession at all.” Anyone else thinking about life coping skills after your job identity dissolves? Gm 🥹 View quoted note →

The secret is to never allow your professional career to become your identity in the first place. I was heading in that direction early in my career, but became increasingly interested in philosophical questions about life, liberty, money, economics, and eventually stumbled upon the Bitcoin rabbit hole. This journey took many years, and it's still ongoing, completely disconnecting my corporate day job from my identity. I'm glad I did that, because when I later got laid off from a successful 19-year career director-level job, I felt peaceful. In a sense, my self-discovery journey and desire to understand how the world works had become my identity. I envy those who are able to find a job or make a living doing something that is philosophically and morally aligned with their principles and beliefs; it's a powerful intersection. It must be equivalent to a deeply religious person working for a church or religious organization. I guess that's the main reason why I strongly feel the desire to work for a Bitcoin company.
