Only CLI software officially, we are adding GUI support ourselves next update. Technically other OSes like Windows 11 or better suitable Linux distributions can be run too but the feature currently only uses Debian.

GUI support would be great for turning an old phone into a privacy-focused media client for a TV to replace "smart" sticks & other devices. Unless I'm misunderstanding the potential here and its limitations

I don't see how the Linux app wouldn't run when GUI support is added... That app hasn't been tested though I wouldn't recommend people to run something as critical as their bitcoins on these VMs yet. Using the Testnet would be best.
