CALL TO ACTION:
I hope everyone here on #nostr recognizes the importance of operating your own #bitcoin full node.
It’s getting more and more dire to run a node using #knots and not #core.
#bitcoin is the best money mankind has ever devised and it is (and always will be) up to us plebs to protect it.
Bitcoin core devs are state captured, they do not have our interest in mind. They are proposing to increase the OP_Return data limit from ~83 bytes to 100KB. This is a massive concern for anyone using the #bitcoin network to store value and/or utilize as a sovereign monetary peer-to-peer network.
The state will not relinquish control over the fiat hamster wheel easily, and it seems they have found an attack vector via the centralized software implementation of bitcoin core for individual node runners.
There was nothing wrong with bitcoin core until somewhat recently, but the devs have been compromised and are now making filter changes (not consensus rule changes, the filter configuration changes they are making don’t require a hard or soft fork) that have the potential to destroy private bitcoin nodes. Without nodes, there is no decentralization.
There are plenty of resources to get a node set up using knots. Run a node, use bitcoin knots, stack sats, stay free.
