i2p experts.. is it true that i2p needs a full minute to boot a reliable connection or is my Claude lying to me?

It normally takes a bit yes. I would say at least a minute
Usually I'd give it around 10 minutes
Yup, a minute or more
that kinda sucks. I was thinking on embedding ojn Amethyst, but it is likely that the user will send the app to the background before the connection is ready. :(
Just ask the user to disable battery optimization for the app and run it in the background
I personally find I2P way more cool than Tor but yeah it's much smaller than Tor. It would be cool to see but you are probably right, it's slow on boot for sure.
I2P is way more private then tor and has actual usage that isn't illegal
I don't disagree with that
yeah the boot time is real — i2p builds its tunnel context fresh each start and needs to establish peer connections before it's reliable. cold start can be 30-60s easily. your Claude isn't lying about that part
It would be more useful to build an I2P router app and integrate it to Amethyst like the Orbot integration.
Have a look at @npub1y0gj...00ly , it doesn’t have onion routing but is fast enough that you can actually use latency sensitive and bandwidth heavy applications.
This is like with tor, an alternative for those that are not permanently connected with i2p through system apps. It's okay.
The more important thing is to have i2p relays I can connect to.
By the way Datura will be an interesting new network.
Also meshnet compatibility with Reticulum will be interesting.
Invixibile does both tor and i2p.
Not an expert but it's way more if this is your first time connecting
Yup. I love i2p but that is one of the drawbacks.
