I haven’t realized how fucked up the music industry is until I saw this video. Streaming services are a complete clusterfuck of devaluation of the people’s work. Major labels are just a legalized mafia. I knew a lot of it before, but I just was not able to internalize it before seeing the video. No wonder some musicians prefer tiny Nostr with tiny zaps. The alternative is so much shittier and grim. Fuck, this really boils my blood. All power to @Wavlake to help creat new A2L (artist to listener) economy

Did you hear about the backup that Ann's Archive just made of Spotify?.
I have, which is sad news for all innocent artists that got doublefucked
AI music taking over now is really insulting a lot of artists for the last straw
Yes it is sad, some of my close family are independent artists.
You’ve got to have millions of streams to make anything “decent” and even then artists make most off touring and residuals off licensing (if music used in a commercial, tv/movie) and other brand deals. Streaming has killed the industry.

You better see the video, there is much more to it. I highly recommend it
Yeah this sucks. We might as well go back to BiTorrent and zap artists we like or send them sats to the Cash App.
Not sure how we could comeback from the streaming economy now. People are used to just paying a flat monthly fee instead of individually paying per CD or MP3 as before. And if there is anything that I’ve learned, the majority of people are cheap and would rather pay the least amount possible. This is why V4V is so hard imo. You have a few outliers who are champions around it and you might even have bursts of those who are for a period of time, but then the cost might become too great overtime if they’re not a diehard fan or niche supporter. The popularity of Spotify was a double-edged sword.
This is the way it should be tbh. The real value is performing live.
Now you understand why seeing small zaps on great content pisses me off so much 😂 Nostr can be so much better for artists. It has so much potential if people would actually stop and think for a moment.
The funny part is, even tiny zaps pay better than a fucking streaming services 🤯
💯 Musicians getting started on Nostr now are doing themselves a huge favor now and in the long run
The great content:

The great thing about the internet is anyone can participate. The bad thing about the internet is anyone can participate.
The whole internet is now getting so saturated with content the signal (real music) is being drowned out by the noise (AI slop).
Lol 😂 It’s unfortunate that so many people here (not you, I’ve seen how you zap 🤝) assume I’m talking about myself and my memes when I bring up this topic of zapping content what it’s worth. It’s ok though, I’ll keep advocating for this cultural shift, because more bitcoiners need to put their money where their mouths are and actually use magic internet money to make the internet a better place for artists.
*creators
I use that term too, but it carries some negative connotations due to social media influencer culture.
ENDED UP HERE AFTER GETTING BANNED FROM TWITTER/X ENOUGH TIMES. ITS A SMALL COMMUNITY & THE ZAPS R A BONUS BUT THE REAL VALUE HERE IZ CENSORSHIP RES1STANCE ✨👽✨

Every zap matters ☝️
