Organic Maps is basically the same code base/app, except that CoMaps was forked a few months ago.
Search is indeed bad and I've only used navigation for short routes by foot.

Gotcha, is it picking all possible landmarks - parks, resteraunts, lil shops, etc around you well enough?
Works quite well for me in big cities and small towns.
