@SeedSigner receiving funding too?

And you stopped funding us, the free and open source developers that brought you: * The first nostr hardware signer * The nostr remote signer * The cheapest diy bitcoin hardware wallet * The immensely popular bitcoinswitch (used a lot in education) * The fossa offline bitcoin atm * The LNpos All used a bunch and require maintaining.

Did they ever give a reason as to why they denied funding?

Nope. All they said was they expected projects to become self-sustainable (not mentioned anywhere in their paraphernalia). The submission process is a backward blackbox, with no feedback or appeal process. Opensats submission process needs radical improvements, especially considering the impact/power they have over projects and developers.

And may I add, i am personally prob responsible for coordinating the most hardware workshops in bitcoin, and have been driving force inspiring people to build hardware. Ugh, what a shitshow

Ugh. Super frustrating. @SeedSigner was one of the first hardware I came across as a reputable, DIY project that pulled me into the Bitcoin space. I’m genuinely shocked that @OpenSats doesn’t see it as a viable, long-term investment for the open source & Bitcoin community. Agreed they should modify their statement to: “OpenSats remains committed to funding [a certain niche of] builders who keep Bitcoin's hardware infrastructure open, auditable, and accessible”

On Seedsigner, its the most used foss diy signer, there is no excuse not fund beyond nepotism from some in the opensats team (thats all we can conclude), which is dangerous, not in bitcoins interest. I can see why many are skeptical of opensats impact. Fixed by making the submission process open, its too much power over bitcoin for these decisions to be a blackbox.

I will send this to some friends who do Hardware. Hopefully they join our efforts. I do hardware, but I am more into modifying hardware, and its small percentage of my time.

Idk, hopefully opensats improves 🤷‍♂️ The concept makes sense, the implementation is buggy if a project like seedsigner gets no funding due to nepotism.
