Life, sine qua non, seeks out and consumes metastable resources, thus increasing entropy both locally and globally. Would that be efficient or inefficient, in your philosophy? Since life increases thermodynamic entropy, death must be an unqualified good, right? Unless, perhaps, a death under consideration would result in the replication of even-more-entropic lifeforms.
