I'll give you the basic recipe to make it with vodka. I use triple refined alcohol, but it's not that easy to find.
12 ripe lemons, 1 litre of vodka, 750 g sugar, 500 ml of water. The lemons should be fresh, but bio will do the job, the idea is not to use those waxed from the supermarket.
Peel the lemons with a potato peeler and put the peels in a big jar with the vodka. Cover with a plastic bag fixed with a rubber band and leave it like this to extract the oils for a week.
After that, make a sugar syrup from 750 g of sugar and 1 litre of water by slowly boiling them together until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool for a bit and pour it into the jar over the alcohol and peels. Cover it back and in 2 months it's ready, but you can start tasting it after one week. If you make it, don't become a stranger and brag about it.
