I think that iOS vs Android war should come back actually. It would give some variety instead of just Knots vs Core discussions.
Maybe we need more BSD guys to get on the Linux nerds nerves ๐ค
We need more diversity of autist battles I think.

I think we need much better designers and user interface specialists. Most of the FOSS UI/UX is frankly garbage and is not friendly to a common population. It was always a problem, hence Linux is on servers and not on desktops. Android slightly improved on that by bringing Linux to mobile, but I still consider it a bad execution, given the variance between vendors of hardware.
SteamOS is another vector, bringing Linux to a non technical crowd. I think the gaming audience becoming more familiar with Linux could help, it might push more well designed software to the Linux side. Valve did a good job with getting Linux drivers to work a lot better, gaben has sway in the industry, so maybe.
Android coming to desktop/laptop form factors, replacing ChromeOS will be interesting too. Desktop mode on my phone is actually useful.
I'm the opposite of you ๐ I used to do support that included a lot of Mac & iOS users (I was even a Mac Maxi back in the day, until 10.7/8 ๐ฑ) I find their later GUI decisions frustrating and Linux & Android easier. But everyone is different, and I'm certainly not a common user.
