Wish I knew of a group of people that met in person to talk about servers, networking, software, home labs, etc close to where I live
Sometimes I wanna nerd out about those topics between beers 🤓

Find your local Linux or bsd user group
Felt. I've tried starting something local, but haven't had anyone show up for 4weeks straight so I eventually gave up....
Take the discussions online audio maybe nostr
My town is void of anyone wanting to talk about anything other than the current thing, their pay grade and/or who they know. I feel ya.
It’s lonely eh?
That would be amazing. Kind of a lonely journey learning about limux and self hosting for me. Similar to learnung bitcoin and austrian economics. Feel free to message me if you ever want to chat. Im down to setup simplex as well for voice chats 🤙🤙🤙
its lonely and people are few and far away, but you can create a room on hivetalk and invite people by posting a link and "@" them. That's whole reason why I made it. So you can chat with people around common interests and screenshare our stuff!
make a room on #hivetalk and invite people from here to chat with you. :D
Even with those that are "technical" in my profession, Ive found only 1 that matches me on this passion. I feel ya. Not a solution to carbon based unit interactions. But this discord is a great resource: https://discord.gg/home-operations
Just did cheers.
That sounds like the kind of thing that could *easily* attract a small group if you live in a city of 300k+ inhabitants and just start something on meetup or Luma...
Very much so. I'm also in a small town..
🤷
I had the same feeling wish to have a group
My reputation on nostr is the same in person.
I'm liable for flipping on you and asking you questions that challenge your own beliefs and opinions, the same I challenge my own.
It's not fair to expect others to be as open minded and recipitorical to new facts based in reality as I am. It leads to arguments and misunderstandings.
Podcasting of any sort, voice, video, etc...
is not for me.
When amethyst let's me post voice noyes and replies, it's going to be funny asf to me.
Tone is hard to determine over text.
Look for a Linux Users Group. Never been to one, but it might be just that.
