Genuinely asking—were you not on the internet during covid? Or did you happen to agree with the censorship going on then? Because it was a lot worse then than it is now.

My guess is that they let up in order to get people comfortable again & they are now masking it better with algorithms & more sophisticated bots.
No, it was not worse. It was only more obvious, nowadays it’s actually worse, because it seems on the outside that it’s not going on, plus many interesting people just left.
