Every once in a while I see photorealistic art like this, and it always astounds me. Ultrarealism with scenes that are *just so* seems to be an artistic trend these days, and I'm here for it. nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzpduwqyg4qt6rtdlp08c2h3hh3x8rhqcemj96ttjrqszk8a93n5ztqqsy92ru0s2r4tsnsxacngpuuylvrcm02vccqtzlgd0c58hcpvj4fkc4gh350

Humm… having studied art formally for 5 years and informally for decades so called Ultra realistic art is problematic as it leaves nothing to the imagination- at least that is what the master painter Matisse said! Since imagination rules the world 🌎 this is a problem… art is not about craft it’s about updating consciousness

I’m fine with calling it a craft and not an art. It’s art meant for the plebs, who still consider realism a valuable expression. I’ve seen academic artists around me not even sell one piece, while I’ve had many inquiries. If art requires too much imagination, most “normal” people’ll just roll their eyes at it. Finally, still life pieces can tell a story through symbolism. While I haven’t done this in my current work, it’s something that can still add layers of story and imagination to realism imo.
