-THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-
These are the enigmatic rock paintings of Tassili n'Ajjer, found in the Sahara desert of Algeria. Dating back to the Neolithic era, approximately 7,000 to 9,000 years ago, they offer a glimpse into a world long past.
The paintings depict human figures in curious forms, some adorned with what appear to be ritualistic garments or masks. The ochre hues, rendered from natural pigments, have been weathered by millennia of sun and wind, yet the scenes retain a haunting clarity, preserving the artistic expression and perhaps spiritual beliefs of the people who created them.
These ancient images whisper tales of life lived in harmony with a now-vanished landscape, a poignant reminder of human ingenuity, resilience, and the enduring quest to leave a mark on the canvas of time. A dance between the ephemeral and the eternal, etched in stone.

Singer, songwriter and musician Roy Orbison passed away on this day in 1988
(December 6)
The Big O sang from the heart, and oh, what a voice!
Elvis said Roy had one of the best voices he’d ever heard, and who are we to disagree with The King?
Roy Orbison was the anti-rock-star, conveying sensitivity and vulnerability in his music. He performed while standing motionless and wearing black clothes to match his dyed black hair and dark sunglasses, which he wore to counter his shyness and stage fright.
From 1960 to 1966, a stunning 22 of Orbison's singles reached the US Billboard Top 40.
He wrote or co-wrote almost all of his own Top 10 hits, including "Only the Lonely" (1960), "Crying" (1961), and "Oh, Pretty Woman" (1964).
In 1988 his career surged again with the rise of the Traveling Wilburys with fellow rock legends George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne, but unfortunately Roy passed away from a heart attack in December of that year, aged just 52.
Orbison's honors include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989, and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2014. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and five other Grammy Awards.
Rolling Stone placed him at #37 on its list of the "Greatest Artists of All Time" and #13 on its list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time".
In 2002, Billboard magazine listed him at #74 on its list of the Top 600 recording artists.

Meet the Guineafowl puffer
(Arothron meleagris)!
This fish feeds mainly on the tips of branching corals.
It gets round not by eating but to avoid being eaten, swallowing water to dissuade predators from attempting such a big bite.
If it’s late to inflate, this fish also has bacteria in its body that can be toxic.

This week in 1981, the AC/DC LP “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” debuted on the UK Albums Chart at #3 (December 5)
AC/DC’s eighth studio album was the follow-up to the massively successful “Back in Black” LP, so the pressure was on.
And while it wasn’t as huge as “Back in Black” it was still a major success.
“For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” would become AC/DC's first and only #1 album in the US until the release of “Black Ice” in October 2008.
It remained in the #1 spot on the US Billboard 200 for three weeks.
(FYI - “Back in Black” was the best-selling album that never reached the top spot in the US)
It also went Top 5 in the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and Italy, and Top 10 in New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and Austria.
In their original 1981 review, Rolling Stone magazine called “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” AC/DC’s best album to date…
To finish, I’ll quote Dewey Finn (Jack Black) from the movie School of Rock, when he says to the class: "In the words of AC/DC: We roll tonight ... to the guitar bite ... and for those about to rock ... I salute you".

Gold Ivy Wreath
4th–3rd century BC
This Hellenistic funerary wreath, crafted in gold alloy, is formed from delicate ivy leaves and slender tendrils arranged in a naturalistic circlet. Each leaf is carefully shaped and chased to show its veins, giving the piece an almost living appearance despite its ancient age.
Ivy was sacred to the God Dionysos, symbolizing vitality, protection, and the endurance of life beyond death. Such wreaths were worn by elite Hellenic tribes, such as the #Macedonians, in ritual, ceremony, and burial, marking both status and belief.

Best Sweet Pastry in the World for 2026: Pastel de Belém (Portugal 🇵🇹)
See the full list: www.tasteatlas.com/best/foods-by-category
Pastel de Belém, Portugal’s iconic custard tart with its caramelized top and flaky layered crust, has been named the #1 Sweet Pastry in the World 2025/26 on TasteAtlas.
The ranking is based on the experiences of TasteAtlas users from around the globe who have actually tried the pastries they rate. Our algorithms remove invalid votes, bots, and nationalist boosts, ensuring a clean and democratic result shaped only by real eaters.
Created in the 19th century by monks near the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, pastel de Belém is still produced in the original bakery using a closely guarded recipe. Each tart is baked at high heat so the custard sets quickly while the thin dough turns crisp, giving the pastry its recognizable caramelized surface and warm, creamy center.

The Belogradchik Fortress (Kaleto) is a historic defensive structure located near the town of Belogradchik in northwestern Bulgaria, at the western slopes of the Balkan Mountains.
It was originally constructed by the Romans during the 1st–3rd centuries AD. It was later expanded by the Bulgarian Empire during the medieval period and under Ottoman rule from the 14th to 19th centuries.
It’s integrated into the Belogradchik Rocks, a series of large sandstone and conglomerate rock formations. The walls are built of stone and brick, and include towers, bastions, and gates.
The complex covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and consists of three main sections.

Diego Maradona lived a life bigger than football.
Born in a Buenos Aires barrio with nothing but raw talent and instinct, he became one of the most electrifying figures the sport has ever known.
His left foot carried Argentina to glory, his creativity reshaped what was possible on a pitch, and his personality made him unforgettable.
But with global fame came chaos. Maradona’s life was a storm of brilliance, pressure, addiction, controversy, and iconic moments, both during matches and far beyond the field. He could inspire a nation one day and dominate tabloid headlines the next.
Through every victory and every downfall, one thing remained: his impact. His passion, his connection to ordinary people, and his raw humanity made him not just a player but a legend. Decades later, the world still speaks his name with awe and emotion.
