I've always admired folks that know how to grow, raise, and harvest their own food. Hopefully, I can settle down one day and do something similar. In the meantime, anybody else homestead, hunt, or otherwise produce their own nutrition? Stories? Pics? View quoted note →
A lot has changed in Western education in the last century. A number of those changes have been for the better (ending widespread corporal punishment, for example), but many other changes we could probably do without (think, Common Core). #education image
I've always enjoyed the odd story about curious characters that have been different from the rest of us. The adventures of Petro Zailenko are no different. Born in Russia, Petro ended up in California under dubious circumstances, and he eventually fled into the woods to avoid immigration authorities. He spent the rest of his life living as a hermit in the forests of northern California. Check out a fuller story with some great photos here: https://www.sfgate.com/northcoast/article/hendy-woods-hermit-mendocino-redwoods-20354002.php #themoreyouknow
#XMR nerds, does the #Monero community have any 'holidays' that are celebrated during the year? Something akin to Bitcoin Pizza Day? #asknostr
Years ago, I used to manually archive each article (via Archive.is and the Wayback Machine) before adding it to my Pocket bookmarks. That way, when sites went down or the original articles were pulled, I'd still be able to go back and read what I pleased. Over time, I naturally found this to be tedious and stopped doing it altogether. However, I'm now sitting here wondering whether there might be an easier way to automate this process, such as with some kind of IFTTT process? Or perhaps a tool exists that would archive everything I have coming in via my RSS feeds? #asknostr
What's up with all the new autoreply spam bots that send through garbled nonsense? What purpose do they serve and why has someone unleashed them on Nostr?! #asknostr
Welcome to Nostr, @Dr Danny DeReuter ! If there were two or three things we nostriches should know to keep us physically healthy and to prevent the need for *extensive* chiropractic work done on us, what would they be?
“More than 170 Chick-fil-A team members across the country have earned college degrees without incurring student debt, thanks to a tuition-free education program offered in partnership with Ficus Education and Point University." Folks, if your employer offers you tuition allowances, take advantage of those opportunities! Get in some professional development courses, complete a degree, or take other classes to help improve your knowledge and develop your skills! #education
I found one possible workaround that should work on most of the devices I mentioned: KOReader + Wallabag. KOReader is an e-ink reader app, which works on Kobo and Moaan E-ink Reader, and Wallabag is a self-hosted article bookmarking tool. Kobo offers a Wallabag plugin. I have yet to test it out but figured out share this option in case anyone else has some time to mess around with this alternative. #reading #bookstr #kobo #moaan View quoted note →
I've just learned that Mozilla is sunsetting Pocket. For those who avidly read and like to bookmark articles and miscellaneous links to read later, Pocket was one of the most popular. What should I switch to now? Instapaper? Self-host Wallabag? Bonus points if any services & apps integrate well with a Kobo ebook reader, Moaan Inkpalm, and/or the Boox Palma. #asknostr #reading #bookstr
It's a pretty weird way to start the day, but I just enjoyed the last few bites of the durian I had leftover from last night. Oh, the joys of living in Southeast Asia! #SoutheastAsia #durian
None of the links seem to be working for me. When I glance at where they point to, every single one is showing "javascript:void(0)".
Nostr bookmarks have been both a blessing and a curse for me. On the one hand, they're an easy way to quickly save a note. But on the other, the multiple clients issue means I have to check on both mobile and desktop where I might have saved something (and which client, as I'm a weirdo who uses multiple clients on both!). Anyone know of a way to merge my bookmark lists or to make Nostr clients all access the same list? #asknostr View quoted note →
