The CrowdStrike disaster reminds me of a a time when it was broadly acknowledged that individuals, institutions, and nations should have substantial autonomy to steer their own course.
This was a time when people remembered that encouraging diversity in agriculture and forestry was to be favoured over imposing uniformity.
This was also the time when everybody knew that putting all eggs in one basket was a catastrophically bad idea.
The above points applies also to IT systems.
Indeed, if you don't wish to raise the likelihood of large-scale (systemic) catastrophes, you must stand against excess centralisation (such as globalism). And encourage polyculture over monoculture.
