Had a great conversation yesterday orange-pilling a local business! Was in the local hardware store waiting in line. The owner was helping an older man pay with his phone, he then said that yeah, they would take any payment, even Bitcoin. When it was my turn, I asked if they accepted Bitcoin, he admitted that no, not yet, but that he was curious about it. This rolled into a quick 5 minute conversation about some of the merits of accepting it as a merchant. I wrote down some websites for him to get more info, including www.bitcoin.rocks I go there at least once a week and told the owner when I come back in, I’d be more than happy to help further. He said he’s got some homework to do and seemed genuinely interested in exploring it. I’ll take some “Bitcoin Accepted Here” stickers that I got from @bitcoin.rocks next time I go in, and hopefully if they get it set up, I’ll get the hardware store listed on local btc merchant maps.
