Told my son on bike rides to count the nails and screws that could pop our tires. When comparing our counts at the end of the ride I would ensure I counted slightly more on the first few rides. After that it didn’t matter that our counts were the same. I let him know, “It’s not about the counting. It’s about the seeing. If you’re seeing them, you’re not running over them.” This lesson echoes well into life. image

“Caesar defeated their army on the banks of the Aisne; then, with a celerity of movement that never allowed his foes to unite, he moved in succession against the Suessiones, Ambiani, Nervii, and Aduatici, conquered them, despoiled them, and sold the captives to the slave merchants of Italy.” — Will Durant, Caesar and Christ (The Story of Civilization, Vol. 3) My new-to-me word: Celerity (n.): swiftness, speed, or rapidity of motion. From Latin celeritas, meaning “quickness.”

After we learn, we teach. What if someone read an easy book... That lead them to understand Bitcoin's staying power... That lead them to seek equity to convert to Bitcoin... That lead them to hold Bitcoin alongside their house... Which gave them a low time preference... And gave them diamond hands... Which let Bitcoin realize it's value globally... While sitting in their self custody... What would that do for them? What would that do for their family? What would that do for your community? Buy some to give. Every one you buy prints two. I'll be giving them out too. After we learn, we teach.

@preston I was watching you talk through how people that think they'll sell at $1M don't understand what is playing out. I built this calculator for people to see what positioning some bitcoin alongside their mortgage and what the performance looks like. I like the tool. It even lets you diminish the returns and flatten the bear markets and tweak the price of bitcoin over the timeline of a mortgage. The problem I kept having was how much the bitcoin value was blowing out my chart after the first 7 to 10 years. It was undermining what otherwise seemed like credible data. I'm coming to terms that we just can't perceive what we're facing. We're just not wired to process the mass volume and exponential price explosion this is set up to deliver. Loved hearing that discussion. Very real. image

Gert van Lagen’s chart is different but the numbers match my TA play on the Bitcoin price with CPI removed. Mine pegs more closely to adoption and halving fundamentals without inflation spike noise. His is very zoomed out, which I can always appreciate.

It seems the Tether CEO has your keys when chosen to act for any purpose. Selectively, and to accommodate whom in an unknown future. Who’s in YOUR wallet? Use Bitcoin.

Apple trees on our walk route make for great puppy snacks along the way. She knows where these trees are and recently found a pear tree to add to our stops. “Funny apples, these”, she must be thinking. image

Mr. Cogburn is still with us. He sleeps in the tree and calls to us in the morning from the bench outside, our window to get us up at 6:30. image

Foo foo cocktails with friends doesn’t happen often at the moment, with kids occupying everybody in sports and vacations and whatnot. But when it does work out, it’s a welcomed reconnection of healthy people enjoying life. This is what gilded friendships are all about. image

Caution fellow humans: #AI as news source that influences your world view and decision process is as bad as the #media in that you’re trusting the company’s parameters that filter the outputs to you. Tread with skepticism. #Perplexity offer an MSTR headline and mashup article, wrong details, no accountability. See image sequence of my engagement with it. The info is fluid, and there’s a loose connection to facts and sources, at best.

Those new Casio Automatics that I posted a leaked peek at a while back come with seiko movements and a see-through back and are priced at $300 and under. Impressive for an entry level automatic priced so reasonably. I’m definitely buying one for fun.
