End of an era on my Specialized Allez. I put about 5,000 miles on that one. Didn’t want to go bikeless, so I HAD to buy a replacement. The new Specialized Aethos joins the stable today. Described as a climber, its cost comes from its light weight. Its components are way updated from the Allez. Fully carbon build with disk brakes, and the electronic shifter should be interesting. Can’t wait to hit the road on the Aethos. Even found some shoes with my name on them.
My son finished his first triathlon this morning. GM!
Told my son on bike rides to count the nails and screws that could pop our tires. When comparing our counts at the end of the ride I would ensure I counted slightly more on the first few rides. After that it didn’t matter that our counts were the same. I let him know, “It’s not about the counting. It’s about the seeing. If you’re seeing them, you’re not running over them.” This lesson echoes well into life.
