A low-fi audiozine that puts the punk back in cypherpunk.
bitpunk.fm is slowly moving to analog only. This next issue will be analog-first. I will release the digital files only after all 20 tapes have sailed. Help support the release of the digital version by requesting a tape via postcard with your return address to: P.O. Box 273029 Fort Collins, CO 80525
People underestimate what they can accomplish in a year. One year ago today, I published my first poem. Since then I have: - produced 12 issues of bitpunk.fm - shipped or hand delivered over 300 tapes - Read over 190 poems on 38 live poetry shows, every Friday. - Published to bitpunkfm.substack.com over 140 poems - 7 open mic performances including 1 in Prague - Participated in 2 satellite spotlights - Had 2 poems and 2 photos published in 1 subversive zine - Performed poetry at 1 Dark Prague event Some people count sats, followers, downloads, or other metrics, but these are the metrics that matter to me. Thanks everyone who has been following along. I am excited to keep the tapes rolling this next year and launch my first poetry book and audio book, wastedblood.com
Without cassettes you will never have the pleasure of opening a box of tapes and finding this. image
The tapes waiting for me when I got back. Plus, tangerine dream was gifted to me in person. Finding tapes in your mailbox is an amazing feeling. Has it happened to you? It can if you send a postcard with your return address to: PO Box 273029 Fort Collins, CO 80525 image
One of the most anticipated novels drops today. Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon. It's one of the few chances to read a novel with the entire world at once by one of the greatest living novelists. You will not have this chance for the rest of your life, he is 88 years old.
This is becoming my favorite conference. I know it's "on brand" for me to say this but these irl events I find much more fulfilling. Someone handed me a tape when they saw me, they remembered me from last year, and I was taken aback when I received applause for a poem mid-talk. Thank you for all that attended. Thank you @Juraj and @No Good Kid for this amazing zine. I have lots to think about now but first I must water all my plants! View quoted note →
Thomas Pynchon has a new book, Shadow Ticket, that will be released in a week. His last book, Bleeding Edge, was published over a decade ago. For all my hackers out there, this one is not to be missed. He gets the culture correct, from the exploit cycle drops at blackhat and defcon, to a metal gear solid reference. I still prefer Crying the Lot of 49 the best, but if you were part of early hacker culture especially, you should enjoy Bleeding Edge. I wrote a Sestina, which is a kind of poem with rotating words, not unlike AES s-boxes, about it here.
Largest batch of tapes I've ever sent going out tomorrow. This one goes out to all the Trystero members. image
Bitpunk.fm has been called anarchic, analog, rebellious, and unique. For the price of a postcard, you can be too. PO Box 273029 Fort Collins, CO 80525
