I've just listened to @Guy Swann reading @Jameson Lopp : 'Who controls Bitcoin core'. It's another great piece, which cleared up some nagging doubts for me.
I liked Guy's take on the 'Trust effect'. Perhaps a decentralized social network like Nostr is a necessary component of Bitcoin, in order to enable node operators who are not core developers to smell trouble coming and act accordingly.
