It’s almost a year ago (jan3) I was able to do the first interview about the best bitcoin book written. And I would like to wish @Aaron van Wirdum a merry Xmas and happy new year. This was a highlight for me.

Tractor full with animals, walking around on wooden shoes just like dad. He’s 1,5 years old, loves helping with the dishwasher, laundry, garden etc. Now he wanted to wear his Xmas gear. Merry Xmas everyone! And don’t forget, the next generation will only have a free life if bitcoin wins. Proof of work has to be delivered. There’s no turning back, it’s either freedom or dystopia. image

It’s been a great year. Our webshop reached a quarter million € turnover. We still lost bitcoin as we purchased more stock and on average the euro value of bitcoin increased more than the sales value of the products. Nevertheless we are happy with what we achieved. €150k on bitcoin payments. €100k on fiat payments. We’ve also supported an enormous amount of development, new initiatives and local bitcoin adoption. Would like to thank the following people that are on Nostr for the amazing year. Probably not finding or able to tag most. @WantClue @Djuri @Patrick van der Meijde @Brinkie Noderunner @Le Pleb Royale - SF @Arnold Hubach @Street Cyber @Wenze @Paul | Bitcoin School @Public-Pool @Printer

Whenever you try to upload a picture in @primal on IOS it doesn’t work. You always have to do it twice. Why? And anyone else experiencing this? Also many pictures on timelines don’t load…

I’ve seen this machine live when it was in the process… this is a major step into multi generational self custody. You get to stamp a descriptor in the woods with your kids. What else do you want in life? View quoted note →

Yesterday I was bringing packages away at the local delivery point in my hometown. I ran across a guy I used to cycle to high school with. This was over 20 years ago… he was not looking good at all. So I brought up some old discussion topics we used to have when cycling. We both liked the Nissan skyline GTR back in those days. It gave him a big smile. He said he lost it after high school. First worked a bit in a warehouse, but was lost to alcohol and drugs and started stealing. He told me he was famous in the city of Oss for his steals. This guy was in the highest grade high school and has been roaming the streets for 20 years now. It’s sad to see so many people lost, even in a small town like this. When I grew up I never expected to see so much decline. I moved back to my hometown a couple years ago, but this doesn’t look like the place where I grew up in. We’re not going to expose our kids to this toxic environment. We have some ideas to move. Where would you move to?

Lightning doesn’t work they said… Nobody is using it. It’s too complex. Not if you’re paying attention. The first company in Europe with a MICAR license is @npub1m0ne...dqkw. It’s a gaming platform with a lightning integration. You thought we don’t need to get rid of our current payment networks that are running on certain legacy rails is living under a rock. The change is coming and it’ll come fast. Oh and btw, we’re still receiving a nice amount of lightning transactions… @BitcoinBrabant @Lightning Checkout image

For the Dutch, about the draconian dac 8:

If we read through the Dutch news over the past months we have consistently seen messaging about cyber threats and combatting misinformation. Many papers created by institutions have been hammering down on controlling the internet. The latest “make sure you have cash at home” is the third one in a couple of months. Dutch department of defense, Dutch central bank and now the national association of banks. A total crackdown on freedom on the internet because of “cyber threats” is not out of the question. The majority of the Dutch people support a crackdown on misinformation and control of social media now… A simple “attack” would easily put emergency measures in place. The China role model of the great firewall is a wet dream for many… image

Zapping will become the after proof of work of delivery discount… people that share their amazing buy in our webshop will be zapped from one of our new lightning nodes setup with @alby. It was fun to do a setup once again… became very different in the last few years tbh… View quoted note →

A game changer for bitcoin hodlers. The “deposit guarantee” of bitcoin is here while having control over your UTXO when the counterparty fails. Miniscript makes it easy for people to understand. Saw this for the first time @FREE Madeira conference. At @npub1ft69...tx3v the details were further presented. It’s not up to €100k like the money at the bank that is not yours…It’s not some real estate that will be taxed away or falls under some unreliable government. You will hold control over your asset. Time locks do not exist in the physical world that can’t be breached. It’s the first time we can not only ensure, but also insure generational wealth. View quoted note →

One of the brightest bitcoiners I know decided to leave the Netherlands. I’m in intense pain to have seen the brightest and hard working people that create a bright future leave. The few that are still here have plans to leave that are very concrete. We have a sovereign setup in the Netherlands and will push freedom for bitcoiners as far as we can go. But if the Netherlands decides to go too far you have to take responsibility for your families and vote with your feet. We’re closing in on the final battle, the discussions are starting to heat up. If it goes the wrong way we’ll let you know timely.

Yesterday we had the first major outage of electricity at my sisters place (local outage, couple hundred households were affected). Coincidentally we already ordered 30KWh emergency backup batteries for our locations, not yet installed. We expect a lot more outages in the future. With 30KWh we can run quite a while, but when will we have them full? We are planning to deplete them with mining… a minimum level for emergencies is required I would expect… if we look at our consumption we can push it under 2kwh per day easily and we have sufficient solar even for winter to generate a couple kWh per day. So a depletion below 5kwh is maybe not wise… curious what Nostr thinks about this…
