Every time I blame my own experience on someone outside of myself I am surrendering agency to something outside my control. Yes there is a "they", but they only have the power that I give them. When an individual sees the world through this lens "they" only gain more power. We can opt out by taking our time and attention back one step at a time.

I was raised in a mostly secular, but relatively conservative household in a liberal state and attended a "highly ranked" public school district which essentially indoctrinated me with postmodern statist philosophy. (Though this wasn't as bad in the 90s as it seems to be now.) After getting a bachelor's and master's degree I was essentially melded into what I would now call a socialist, but I didn't see it that way. I continued to have disagreements with people who were overtly statist, communist, or libertarian until I began to understand Bitcoin. Understanding Bitcoin forced me to rationalize my assumptions about politics, economics, and society at large. In the process I began to see lies and half truths interwoven into everything I'd ever learned. At that point I began to swing heavily to the right and I became engrossed with fundamentalist religious structures. In retrospect, this was a natural response to realizing the harm of extreme moral relativism which stems from postmodern philosophy. However, I couldn't remain at the traditional mode of existence. Because I witnessed the oppression caused by black and white thinking. It was hindering individual self expression, honesty, and truth... so I was flung back into the realm of uncertainty. Now I am acknowledging the importance of the traditional, modern, and postmodern perspectives, but also realizing none is complete on it's own. Integral Theory has served me well in this process: image

I'm listening to @No Solutions right now and it's another fantastic rip. @Shadrach I also met Polycarp the week I was moving out of Austin. Both unfortunate and perfect. Everything he was working on was exactly what I'm interested in. I'm considering joining the Michigan meetup you mentioned. If you've got a link please send it my way πŸ€™

@Oscar Merry I have reported this issue twice through the feedback form on fountain, but I've had the same issue for over a year and it's still happening 🫀 I have Amber and Aegis nostr signers installed on my android device. I'm not sure which one is being used, but it's not sticking. The main settings shows that I am signed in under the correct npub.

It's easier to quiet the mind once one notices the futility of most of their thinking
