solar is the future. PERIOD.
and to make efficient use of solar you must live in a climate where energy is used primarily for air conditioning rather than heating. because in cold climates like Boston, Chicago etc. you need energy ( heating ) precisely when there is barely any sun available ( winter nights ). whereas in Florida your peak energy demand ( air conditioning ) correlates pretty well with peak availability of solar power ( summer afternoons ).
remember frens we are entering an era of energy rationing. going forward everything will be priced not in dollars, not in bitcoin, but in kilowatt hours. if you want to maximize your quality of life you have to live where energy is cheapest.
Aruvin went for the cheapest rent when he moved to Spain from LA but energy is actually more expensive in Europe than California. Energy is far cheaper in Florida.
You can live cost effectively in Spain if you give up things like car and air conditioning and meat. but is that a life worth living ?

solar power is only available during the day
but in Florida you only really need power during the day anyway to run the AC
you don't really need AC at night because not only do temps at night drop from 93 to 78 ... but more importantly the temperature of the roof drops from like 140F to like 90F
right now Solar power in Florida is negligible but the trend is in the right direction
whereas in the north you rely on fossil fuels for heating - solar can't be used because you need heat the most at night - and the trend for fossil fuels isn't good
