On this day 10 years ago, we lost Prince. I was working in detox. Our medic told me the news and I told him to shut the fuck up. Not funny, John. like, fuck you dude. I was on shift with my friend Robyn, a huge fan. We were devastated. Robyn needed to have, like I shit you not, 15 extra cigarettes that day. (We almost lost her to heart disease after that, another story for another day, but don't smoke cigarettes, they are really bad for you. Unless you work around a bunch of medics and detox workers, we know how to save people). Surreal to be working in detox of all places, not that we *knew* the reason behind his death on that day. We were just used to that sort of thing, being who we are in order to work in the addiction field. We didn't know. But we KNEW. But here's what I know of the music biz. It's full of bullshit, greed, and starfucking. Not sorry. People like Prince no doubt had people around them who love to enable. They love to say yes. Yes is dangerous. You don't need yes people near you, you need NO people near you. Tell yourself no. The yes people don't love you. The ones who tell you NO do love you.

Imagine giving a shit about Live Nation & Ticketmaster like we all didn't just spend the past couple of years building an alternate system... Big Daddy Government isn't gonna fix it. The courts aren't gonna fix it. But us nerds ain't askin' for permission anyway. We're on the right side of history. Keep building. They will come. The masses are slowly waking up.
