I’m not great with social media engagement but lately I’ve been experimenting with reposting charts and financial stats on traditional social media about how the money is the root of all evil, but trying to frame it as simply as possible without sounding like tinfoil hat guy. I don’t have a large following, mostly friends and family, but looking to have a conversation, or to educate (I take pride in my ability to teach subjects that I’m well-versed in). Unsurprisingly I’ve had effectively zero engagement. A buddy of mine (who’s fairly progressive) will ask one question to get me to prove what I’m saying, I do, he says fair enough, and that’s it. Yet you see countless peoples’ stories all about the political issues they care about, which shows the amount of energy they are willing to put into the political theater of what we’re living through, but nobody wants to either have a conversation or ask questions. We have never been so connected with social media but we’ve also never been so separated.

What makes it so difficult for people to change their mind about something? I get it — ego, pride, etc.— but why is it a default setting? Why is asking questions in an attempt to seek objective truth so taboo? I guess we can blame the education system, but man, it’s crazy to see such a large cohort of people who think they are thinking for themselves, yet are unwilling to change their stance on anything. I question my convictions probably too much, but in an effort to maintain truth. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary to continue to live in reality.

I often think about my Bitcoin journey and it’s no different than everyone else’s, but I still awe over how educational the Bitcoin rabbit hole is. Absolutely life-altering, worldview-changing, humble-sauce-eating discovery. And yet the frustrations with how the masses are so uninterested in wanting to understand the problems of the world and seek solutions is maddening. Bitcoiners are participating in a New Renaissance while the majority are still in the Dark Ages. Not meant to be a superiority flex, just a crazy and polarizing world we’re in.

I discovered Bitcoin in 2017 but didn't go down the rabbit hole until 2020. Been learning ever since. I'm an engineering manager in the manufacturing world. Does the bitcoin community have any opinions on whether the manufacturing world should get involved in mining? If so, how? I've been trying to work this through in my head, but with all the added infrastructure/capital costs, it has me leaning towards no, but I'd like to hear others' input on the matter.

New here to Nostr. Not much of a social media user, but I'd like to get more engaged with the Bitcoin/Nostr community. So hi!
