Palantir’s CEO wrote a manifesto arguing the U.S. should end the all volunteer force and impose “universal national service” so the cost of war is shared. His company holds billions in DoD contracts.
The cost won’t be shared, the contract will be.
The volunteer force is friction. It’s the last point in the system where a young man can refuse with his feet. The empire already burned through that consent. Recruitment collapsed. Wars without victories stopped selling, and the men selling them know it.
So the man building the surveillance grid writes a book about your duty.
Universal national service is the marketing name. Conscription is the product. Shared sacrifice is the slogan. Karp’s sons won’t share it, yours will.
The volunteer force is the only vote anyone still gets on the next war. They want it gone for the obvious reason.
