This is the only way “medium of exchange” happens, btw. It’s when liquidity is great enough and merchants demand it. Thats it. You can’t force it or fake it. It has to be widely desirable enough for merchants to prioritize it. This is why it happens after it becomes widely used to save and protect wealth. The “complicated ways to adjust simple things” pisses me off so much. Sometimes I think “am I just becoming an angry old man?” But then my car automatically hijacks my phone when I walk by it, taking over my calls, yet when I’m in the car and I want to switch from my phone to my wife’s phone, it is 4 levels deep in menus, takes 20 delayed taps, I wait 15 seconds for it to register, and half the time it doesn’t work for absolutely no fucking reason… then I know.
