It’s that time of year when the baby spiders hatch in the walls and come out inside the house. Every time I squash one with the tip of my finger I mutter ‘I smite you’ under my breath.
I don’t know why I do this and I really don’t mind the baby ones… it’s just that they grow up to be really big ones.
So yeah, spider smiting season is upon us.

Always grateful for having a brother who is a chef. 🧡

Not exactly a feast 😂
I think I might have over fertilised the carrot bed.

Does anyone know why I can’t zap directly in zap.cooking? Do I need to set something else up?

Update on the bee situation.
The new queen has hatched and the old queen dispatched.
The brood is full of eggs.
The hive seems very settled and I managed a full inspection with no smoke.
I’m expecting the hive to explode with activity in the next few weeks and then we will flooded with honey. 🍯 View quoted note →

That magic moment where cream becomes butter is still surprising and satisfying every time 🤩🐮

My old Queen is definitely getting towards the end of her productivity. Lots of scattered and patch brood but she’s putting up a valiant last effort.
The hive now has a single superseder queen cell and I think she’ll hatch any day. I’m not expecting the old queen to swam as the hive isn’t strong enough.
They are a very chill hive and I figure the new queen may have a similar temperament. So the questions I have are:
Do I leave them to requeen themselves?
Should I pinch the old queen before the new one hatches?
Should I organise to requeen them myself?
I figured that I can always replace the new queen if the hive gets rowdy.
TIL about footstr 🦶
Also this approach would have really helped me when I first got into Nostr. It’s an overwhelming place to step into and slowly easing in would have been great. View quoted note →
