We put our first steer in the freezer today. One we bought and raise ourselves. This is a huge level up for us.
The next level up is when they are born on the farm and are processed on the farm. That is still about two years away for us with our first go of breeding happening at the end of Feb.

Our neighbours tree fell down in a storm.
It was a huge old gumtree and the inside was being slowly converted into soft woodish material by this fungi.
These chunks will be going into my compost bin. Fungal soil for the win!!

Amazing things happen when you get honest with yourself and start doing what makes you happy.
Every meal we have I like to list off all the ingredients from our farm.
Todays chilli scrambled eggs is all from here. Spring onion, jalapenos, tomatoes, butter, eggs and cheese.
All homegrown and homemade.
@TBone makes all the appropriate approving musings as I roll call the home grown ingredients. This is what winning feels like to us.

She got out after roos three times. Resulting in a very tired and very muddy me having to go into the dam to catch her before the roo got to her.
Bess can barely wag her tail she's so tired.
The last of this season's parsnips frying in tallow.
I will need to grow a lot more of these when I get the garden sorted for outdoor planting.
When I'm feeling a bit stormy and I need an easy win, home-made icecream is my go to ๐
300ml fresh cream
2x eggs
A little sugar
The flavour of your choice
Makes 2L and is so easy
And if you still have the thundercoulds 6 hour later you've got icecream!
This is vanilla honey made yesterday and I've got a strawberry jam swirl setting in the freezer now.

Had a friend I've been gently nudging with Bitcoin info start asking about it this week.
Now she's sending me 'crypto investor' and Raoul Paul YouTube's. I'm just so annoyed by the easy distraction and diversion of the whole crypto mess. Now I've got to have the same conversation about memecoins and shitcoins again. There is so much noise and it's getting boring. Every cycle it's the same. ๐ค
The only thing better than a cheese drying on the bench is TWO cheeses drying on the bench!!

Seeking fellow cheese makers to learn from and share ideas with. I'm a novice cheese maker and have much to learn but I can understand why people devote their lives to becoming master cheese makers. It's so fun and delicious!
Starting #curdnerds to find others like me.

This is Bess.
She's a registered working dog.
Her job is poultry protection from foxes. She's really great at detection and chasing them off with much baying and all the drama a beagle can muster. She's also supervisor of all kitchen activities.
It's tough work so she sleeps 18 hours a day.
