I make a lot even though we don't eat much of it and I give it away. It is my favourite way to get rid of excessive jars in the cupboard.

When I was working shift work full time I almost never used my sick days when I was actually sick. It was those days where I was feeling really great and didn't want to waste that feeling at work... And weddings. Lots of wedding attended on sick leave.

The most challenging thing about the first year of homesteading here has been adapting to a system that was built by the previous owners to suit them. With time we've learnt why some things are as they are but others still feel awkward and inefficient. The raised garden beds had a layout that didn't suit me so I'm finally getting to resetting them. The girls will do the bulk of the work leveling the earth out over the next week and then the rebuild will commence.

I believe women can do anything... But! The lie that we were told as women is that we can do everything. It's just not true. Yes women can do anything but there are always tradeoffs. If you want the job go get it! If you want the family do that! But doing both is going to take a huge toll and I don't believe it is possible to be able to do both at 100%. Empowering women to choose what feeds their soul most is the true feminist movement. I had an extraordinary career with amazing opportunities and experiences. At times I was the only women on my team and I was proud of what I did and know I made a difference. I was able to look after myself which was good because no-one else was. But! It took me away from my family and social supports. I had less time to be still and soft. It took a toll on my body and my mind. Now I get to choose to perfect the art of being a domestic engineer. I have a man who supports me in a way I didn't know I was missing. I still have the ability to do the heavy lifting and manual labour if I choose and I can had him the tricky jars for him to open for me. Having someone strong enough to hold the space for me to be still and soft and know that I'll be safe is the very best gift that @TBone has given me. Happy Valentine's day babe 😘

It's 44'C at our place today. That 111' for those using freedom units. These days are unbearable but great opportunitiesfor finding our microclimates. The animal are experts in finding to coolest parts of the property. All useful learning. We got lots of water out for the birds and wildlife. Stay hydrated!!

I'm surprised as the speed we went from home baked sourdough to owning a dairy cow. If you haven't started baking your own bread yet just know that there are unexpected consequences. 🥖🐄
