I want to thank @Ryu Santiago for helping me test my DM relay, Xannyblastr. It actually works! I've been neglecting it recently since I was focusing on developing WWG so hard. Gonna give it a bit of attention today. image
So. When this arrives tomorrow I will obviously be installing GrapheneOS. I will document the process and write a comprehensive "cypherpunk smartphone guide", not just installing Graphene but what to do afterwards: how to set it up as the ultimate pleb phone. I'll go over alternate app stores, Bitcoin wallets, Nostr (including Amber), reliable notifications without using Google services, VPNs, Tor, and other general OPSEC. If you have any suggestions for topics to cover please let me know and I will include them. image
This is why I always keep some sats in a mobile hot wallet and if a local business accepts Bitcoin I will pay in Bitcoin. BTC Maps is great for this. No one will ever accept Bitcoin payments if no one uses them! View quoted note โ†’
Did some serious work on WWG, the Ntfy + Electrum project that effectively acts as a bot that lets you talk to your node and get alerted about transactions on your wallets, all fully self-hosted - I'm running everything from my own physical machines. Think it'll be ready for a proper stable release soon. Check it.
I'm a little biased but I think this is really fucking cool. It lets you use Ntfy to talk to your node from your phone anywhere in the world. No third parties or port forwarding required. At the moment it checks the balances and UTXOs of your various wallets and gives you fresh addresses. I already have ideas for a lot more cool shit it can do. It's like a Telegram bot but fully self-hosted. No middleman with your phone number. Even works with SOCKS proxies for Tor support. Connects through Fulcrum, of course. Never touches RPC. Optionally it can connect to a self-hosted Mempool instance for even more blockchain info. This has insane levels of potential. Here we have just the first version. It lets you get fresh addresses, look through previous used and unused ones, list UTXOs, etc from any of your wallets (hot and cold, SegWit or Taproot). All of this and more while your xpubs stay encrypted on your machine. This is an intentional design choice that works opposite to Trezor Suite, for instance. I'm gonna add a lot more to this because it fills a genuine gap in my own setup. View quoted note โ†’
**Bitcoin Wallet Watchguard** Say hello to a local encrypted watch only Bitcoin wallet you can talk to anywhere in the world. Check all of your wallets with sovereignty and privacy from your phone. Your xpub is only ever stored locally. 100% self-hostable if you have a Bitcoin node.
Came up with a really cool project I can make with Ntfy. Bitcoin related, of course. GitHub soon.
Yo can someone react to this so I can see if my ntfy server works?
So TIL I can self-host my own notifications server and set Amethyst to use it. That's pretty sick. Wonder if I can get Signal and other apps to use it instead of Google's?
There's loan sharks with better interest rates than that what the actual fuck image
Forked the fastest vanity onion generator and added Start9 support, since StartOS uses base64 encoded secret keys for vanity onion services in their UI. Can write a tutorial on how to use it if there's any interest, but if you're comfortable with the command line it is super easy. (Also made some other general improvements to it and submitted a PR to the upstream project.)
I straight up spent five hours looking through old transactions on my self-hosted instance of Am I Exposed? Really cool thing to run on your node if you want to learn how to privacymaxx when spending Bitcoin. There's stuff there I wouldn't have even thought about, like specific combinations of address types and features (e.g. if RBF is enabled) being able to fingerprint a specific wallet with high accuracy. Also shows you where some of your coins came from if they went through a known entity, e.g. darknet markets or an exchange. A surprising amount of BTC apparently flows through Reddit? I wasn't expecting that.
