Sometimes I don't paint for days, even though the painting is there, on the easel, waiting for me to finish it. But even in those days of silence, I keep painting in my mind: thinking about colors, lights, shadows, that spark of life still missing. I try and retry every brushstroke inside myself. And then the right day arrives. I pick up the brush, and in a few hours — almost in a trance — the painting completes itself. Today is the day. #art #artstr #painting #isolabellart

Painting "alla prima" is one of the hardest things to do. Yet it's what gives me the most satisfaction. One session. One breath. No pauses. No second thoughts. But it's not spontaneity. It's the opposite. Because before that session, I've already painted that painting a hundred times in my head. I've tried every brushstroke. Mixed every color. Seen every possible mistake. And when I finally pick up the brush, I'm not improvising. I'm just transferring onto canvas what already exists inside me. "Alla prima" doesn't mean without preparation. It means: so prepared that a second attempt isn't needed. There are few among my paintings. But they hold a special place in my heart.
