I’m rewatching the TV series Lost, and I remembered it completely differently. It’s as if I’m watching it for the first time.

Yesterday I startled a cardiac surgeon by talking about Bitcoin. He argued it’s dangerous because it’s intangible, digital. I pointed out that his euros in the bank are too — with the difference that his can be frozen at any moment. There was that strange silence where neither side is really wrong. Then I thought about it more. It’s not just about freedom. It’s about weight. Bitcoin doesn’t simply make you free. It makes you fully responsible. If you make a mistake, you pay. If you lose it, it’s gone. If you sign, it’s final. No one steps in. No one fixes it. No one forgives it. The banking system, instead, is a softer cage: it limits you, yes… but sometimes it also protects you from yourself. The truth is less heroic than we like to tell it: not everyone actually wants that kind of freedom. And not everyone is ready to carry its cost. Maybe it’s not about choosing a side. But about knowing when it makes sense to trust others… and when to accept being completely on your own.

I’ve been a proud #Wisp user since version 0.1.0-alpha, and I say this as if months have passed, when in fact only three weeks have gone by. Wisp is the fastest-evolving and most efficient Nostr client I’ve seen so far, and honestly, in an ecosystem like Nostr, where many projects start out as experiments and remain in their infancy for a long time, seeing a client evolve so rapidly is almost disorienting… but also promising.
