An update from the @GitCitadel server room: We're still working on the #GitRepublic git server. We never stopped working on the git server. We've nearly torn our hair out on the git server. It turns out to be be a total bitch to build it the simplest way, so we have just switched to building it the hardest way. @ChipTuner @MichaelJ and @Finrod Felagund have rolled up their sleeves and started coding like men, again. If we get this to work, everyone will be like OMG, ALL THE FACEPALMS. If not, then we'll just hack together a simple API and throw it up there and abandon our pretensions and pretend like we never thought up something brilliant, and play it off. But first, roll out the C and C#, sirs. Stack some more hardware. Let's get this shitshow on the road.

Guys who remind me vaguely of Hubby, cuz I'm feeling sentimental...

It's easy to forget what a genius @MichaelJ is, cuz he's so calm and straight-laced and a bit reserved. He just lets us talk and talk and says something a bit funny or a bit dry or a bit dull, and then he listens to us talk some more, wearing his "I am listening. You are seen, felt, and heard." Internet-presence, occasionally grinning and joining in, occasionally raising an eyebrow and weighing whether he should inject a loving correction or quiet admonishment, and we discuss some more and he looks at his very neat watch while sipping his very neat coffee with his very shiny stirring spoon, a bit disapproving and a bit entertained, and a bit aloof, but also so very lovable and trustworthy, and it's gearing up to be another rendition of Michael the Mild, emploring the Mild, to be even milder. And then he says something that is so bizarrely brilliant, that we're all like PikachuFaceSurprised.gif

We don't have to cope about the buggy weirdness of putting every damn thing you ever write in an event out on the open Internet, anymore. We can just use AUTH relays, with an appropriate instance of a community-oriented client, like Jumble, Alexandria, Chachi, ZapChat, etc. and just get over it all and move on with our lives.
